Next round of Inter-MFA Consultations held between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Türkiye in Ankara

On 28 July 2026, political consultations at the level of heads of structural divisions of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Türkiye were held in Ankara. About this reports MFA of Turkmenistan. 

The Turkmen side was headed by I. Amanlyev, the Head of the Middle East Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The Turkish delegation was led by Togan Oral, Director General of the Department for Central Asia and the Organization of Turkic States of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye.

During the meeting, the parties expressed satisfaction with the traditionally high level and dynamic development of bilateral interstate relations. They noted that contacts at the highest and high levels, as well as regular consultations between the foreign ministries, constitute an important factor in further strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The interlocutors reviewed a wide range of issues related to the further development of political and diplomatic relations, the expansion of interparliamentary cooperation, the enhancement of the bilateral legal and treaty framework, as well as current consular issues of mutual interest.

The parties particularly emphasized that mutual visits at the highest level constitute a fundamental pillar of Turkmen-Turkish relations, contribute to strengthening the partnership between the two countries, and provide additional impetus to the expansion of bilateral cooperation across all areas.

The sides reaffirmed that both Turkmenistan and the Republic of Türkiye attach great importance to bilateral cooperation, as well as to interaction within international and regional organizations. In this regard, they exchanged views on further coordination of approaches and mutual support within the framework of international organizations.

Emphasizing the need for coordinated efforts to further expand economic cooperation, the parties highlighted the important role of the Turkmen-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and the Turkmen-Turkish Business Council. They also discussed the development of cooperation in the fields of trade, transport, energy, construction, and other sectors.

The parties also expressed mutual interest in further promoting cultural dialogue and enhancing cooperation in the fields of science, education, sports, and healthcare.

In addition, during the visit of the Turkmen delegation to Ankara, a meeting was held with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, Ambassador Ayşe Berris Ekinci. During the meeting, the sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening Turkmen-Turkish relations and discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation, as well as prospects for expanding collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
