Young tennis player from Turkmenistan, Aylin Nuryeva, achieved a remarkable international success by winning the Bukhara Region Open International Tennis Tournament for children under the age of 9 (Orange Ball), held in the city of Bukhara, Uzbekistan. This victory became the talented athlete’s first international achievement and another indication of the growing standard of Turkmen youth tennis.
The tournament was conducted under the ITF Tennis 10s international program developed by the International Tennis Federation to train young players. The competition was held in the "Orange Ball" format, which is designed for children under the age of 9 and features specially adapted playing conditions. The net height ranged from 80 to 91.4 centimeters, while participants competed with 23- and 25-inch junior rackets, enabling young athletes to master the techniques and tactics of modern tennis more quickly.
The tournament traditionally took place at Bukhara’s modern tennis complex. The competition was organized under the auspices of the Uzbekistan Tennis Federation and the Bukhara Region Tennis Federation with the aim of promoting the sport, identifying talented young players, and strengthening international sports cooperation.
Twenty young tennis players from Bukhara, Tashkent, Andijan, Nukus, and Turkmenistan took part in the tournament. A distinctive feature of the competition was that boys and girls competed in the same division, significantly increasing the level of competition and requiring maximum concentration from the participants in every match.
Throughout the tournament, Aylin Nuryeva demonstrated confident and consistent play. However, the main challenge on her path to the championship title came in the semifinal against one of Tashkent’s strongest young tennis players.
The match became one of the highlights of the tournament. The Turkmen athlete lost the first set 5–7 but displayed great determination to level the score by winning the second set 7–5. It seemed that the decisive set had completely shifted in her opponent’s favor, as Aylin trailed 0–5 and stood on the brink of defeat.
However, it was at that very moment that she demonstrated the qualities of a true champion. Showing exceptional composure, strong will, and fighting spirit, the young Turkmen tennis player managed to turn the match around. She won six consecutive games, forced a tiebreak, and ultimately claimed victory 9–7, completing one of the tournament’s most remarkable comebacks.
The emotional semifinal victory gave Aylin confidence ahead of the decisive match. In the final, the representative of Turkmenistan faced a tennis player from Uzbekistan and convincingly confirmed her superiority, winning 7–3, 7–3. This victory earned her the international tournament championship title.
The high level of competition made Aylin Nuryeva’s success particularly significant. The tournament featured the strongest young tennis players from various regions of Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of Turkmenistan. Winning against such a strong field was a well-deserved result of her skill, perseverance, and determination.
Aylin Nuryeva is a fourth-grade student at Secondary School No. 25 in the city of Mary. She trains under the guidance of experienced coach Andrey Dovmatov, who helps the young athlete improve her technique, tactical thinking, and psychological resilience.
Her first international title marked an important milestone in Aylin Nuryeva’s sporting career. The victory in Bukhara not only brought her well-deserved recognition but also opened new opportunities for further development and participation in prestigious international competitions.
The young athlete’s success is further confirmation that a talented new generation of tennis players is emerging in Turkmenistan, capable of representing the country with distinction on the international stage.
