At the High-Level Meeting of the Group of Friends of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), the Turkmen side highlighted the close interconnection between preventive diplomacy, permanent neutrality, international law and intercultural dialogue. The statement drew attention to Turkmenistan's practical experience in preventive diplomacy, including the work of the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia in Ashgabat, as well as the significance of the recently approved National Concept “International Law and Neutrality of Turkmenistan.” Particular emphasis was placed on the proclamation of 2028 as the Year of International Law and Turkmenistan's readiness to further strengthen cooperation with UNAOC.
On the same day, the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations addressed the UN High-Level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response. The statement presented initiatives put forward by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, during the 75th session of the UN General Assembly. These include a proposal to develop a special programme for research on the coronavirus genome, establish a multilateral mechanism for combating pneumonia, and create a methodological centre under the auspices of the World Health Organization for the treatment and prevention of acute infectious diseases. It was also noted that, in cooperation with WHO, Turkmenistan continues to strengthen its health emergency preparedness, disease surveillance, laboratory capacity, and implementation of the One Health approach.
During the Informal Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States, the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations emphasized the importance of translating regional dialogue into practical cooperation. Priority areas included the development of transport and transit connectivity, expansion of trade and economic cooperation, strengthening energy cooperation, and enhancing interaction between the OTS and the United Nations. Special attention was also given to the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport (2026–2035), as well as joint cultural initiatives, including cooperation related to the World Turkic Language Family Day.
In addition, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations Vepa Hajiyev addressed the Informal Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), where practical priorities for advancing regional cooperation were outlined. The Turkmen side emphasized the importance of establishing Joint Trade Zones, implementing the Awaza Programme of Action, strengthening transport and energy connectivity, digitalizing trade, and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. The meeting also highlighted prospects for cooperation in tourism and culture, including the nomination of Mary as the ECO Tourism Capital for 2028.
