The Turkmenistan Investment Forum TIF 2026, one of the main business events of the region, opened in the capital of Turkmenistan. The two-day event brought together investors, experts from international financial institutions, representatives of the innovation sector, and leaders from leading economic sectors.

The Minister of finance and economy of Turkmenistan, Mammetguly Astangulov, delivered the keynote speech at the forum. In his speech, he highlighted key macroeconomic indicators of the country and outlined priority areas for attracting capital.

The Minister emphasised that under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the country is implementing a consistent investment policy that ensures sustainable socio-economic growth.

«Successfully implemented investment projects in various areas of the economy consistently strengthen the potential of our state. Over the past five years, the gross domestic product of Turkmenistan has increased by one and a half times, reaching 77.4 billion dollars by the end of 2025, the GDP growth rate remains stable at 6.3 percent. The macroeconomic policy being pursued contributes to sustainable stability and a reduction in inflation, which amounted to 3.6 percent in the first half of this year. Last year, investment volume reached over 12.8 billion dollars, and exports 11.2 billion dollars. In 2025, foreign trade turnover with countries around the world increased by almost 11 percent compared to 2024. This year, the dynamics of export and import have increased significantly compared to last year», – the speaker stated.

M. Astangulov named the oil and gas sector, petrochemicals, energy, industry, construction, transport, and the agro-industrial complex (AIC) as the main vectors for partnership and investment.

The head of the department actualised that investments in the economy are a key factor in the economic growth and prosperity of the state. In this regard, further expansion of trade relations and the elimination of existing barriers, the reduction of administrative and technical barriers, the improvement of customs procedures, the development of electronic document management, and the creation of favourable conditions for enterprises to enter the markets of neighbouring states and regions were also identified as important areas of investment cooperation.

At the same time, digital technologies and artificial intelligence, which are becoming economic drivers, were identified as priority areas for investment cooperation.

«Digital transformation is one of the priority areas of investment cooperation. Based on this, our country is actively working on the creation of an intelligent analytical system, the implementation of digital monitoring in production processes, and the use of an automated control system. Cooperation is being encouraged in the areas of digital governance, cybersecurity, telecommunications, financial technology, electronic services, and the implementation of satellite monitoring systems», – stated M. Astangulov.

In conclusion, the head of the relevant ministry emphasised that Turkmenistan is creating the most favourable climate for both domestic and foreign investors. The country has created a robust regulatory framework that guarantees comprehensive support and protection for investment activities.
