An international exhibition and scientific conference entitled “Healthcare, Education and Sports in the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State” was held in Ashgabat. The event has traditionally established itself as a prestigious forum aimed at introducing the latest advances in medical science and developing strategic cooperation with scientific and educational institutions abroad.

Andrei Tolstikov, Vice-Rector of the University of Tyumen (UTMN), took part in the forum. Speaking to journalists, he emphasized the considerable potential for multilateral cooperation with scientific and educational institutions in Turkmenistan.

According to the UTMN representative, Turkmenistan is of particular scientific interest to the university, which is one of Russia’s leading centers for biodiversity research. Over the past 10 years alone, the university’s researchers have described more than 1,700 new species of living organisms worldwide, including in Turkmenistan.

The University of Tyumen has a long-standing tradition of academic cooperation with its Turkmen partners. In particular, collaboration with educational institutions in the city of Turkmenabat is developing dynamically. During his visit, A. Tolstikov visited the Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute, where a new academic building was recently commissioned.

Building on their institutional partnership, the two sides plan to implement a wide range of joint initiatives. These include student and faculty exchange programmes, the training and professional development of personnel to meet the university’s specialized needs, the organization of scientific and practical conferences and thematic forums, and joint research in the most advanced fields.

“Another key area of cooperation is the introduction of advanced technologies. The University of Tyumen holds a leading position in the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in education. The Russian university is ready to join forces in such strategic areas as the bioeconomy, based on the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, as well as modern pedagogy incorporating AI tools,” said A. Tolstikov.

The University of Tyumen is one of Russia’s largest centers for training highly qualified specialists for Turkmenistan. Currently, 1,018 Turkmen students are studying at UTMN. Further strengthening these partnerships is expected to contribute to the development of a shared scientific and humanitarian space.
