On October 18, the opening ceremony and main session of the 4th Liangzhu Forum, a major international cultural and political event, were held at the InterContinental Hangzhou Liangzhu complex in Hangzhou, the People’s Republic of China. Bringing together high-ranking politicians, diplomats, representatives of culture and the mass media, and scholars from around the world, the forum once again clearly demonstrated the great strategic importance of international cooperation in preserving cultural heritage for contemporary global development.

The key areas of China’s cultural diplomacy and international initiatives to strengthen peace were outlined at the forum’s opening ceremony, chaired by Liu Jie, Governor of the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province and Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China. Representatives of relevant Chinese government departments addressed the event, highlighting the role of Liangzhu culture in the five-thousand-year history of Chinese civilization and the state’s priorities for promoting this heritage on the world stage. Speakers representing the cultural sector emphasized the importance of strengthening historical and cultural bridges between Eastern and Western civilizations, as well as the significance of cooperation between international organizations and China in protecting the world’s heritage.

The participation of a Turkmen journalist in the forum, alongside representatives of friendly countries, is a clear testament to the continued strengthening of historical and cultural cooperation between Turkmenistan and the People’s Republic of China.

The forum went beyond political and diplomatic speeches and negotiations. It also featured solemn signing ceremonies for important documents that elevate international legal frameworks in the field of cultural cooperation to a new level. Following the opening and document-signing ceremonies, the forum’s program continued with presentations by leading academic and international experts from around the world. Their reports presented scientific and methodological perspectives on preserving and promoting cultural heritage through sustainable tourism and mutual investment, integrating archaeological sites with modern urban planning, and developing interregional cultural exchanges.

The 4th Liangzhu Forum became an important diplomatic platform not only for protecting historical monuments but also for conveying China’s peaceful and sustainable policies to the international community within the framework of the concept of global harmony among civilizations. The event once again clearly confirmed that, drawing on its millennia-old historical heritage, China seeks to build a sustainable future in cooperation with international organizations and partner countries such as Turkmenistan.
