Open judo championship for Cup of Europe held in Istanbul was marked for Turkmen sport with the victory of Gulbadam Babamuradova – the teammate of our participant in the Olympic Games in London Gulnar Hayitbayeva. Such significant attainment shows that already now, we have good potential for Olympic Games – 2016 in Brazil.
Pupil of the Honored coach of Turkmenistan, senior trainer of the national girl’s team Omar Muhammednazarov won the victory in weight category up to 52 kilograms, where together with her, 19 judoists competed for the Cup of Europe. In total, G. Babamuradova held 4 fights. In the course of them, she conquered two “hosts” of the tournament: sportswoman from Luxemburg and Polish judoist – in the final.
By the way, both Gulbadam and Gulnar are from the Lebap province. It is the Lebap judo school that takes up one of the leading positions on the national sport arena.
Third-year student of the National Institute of Sports and Tourism of Turkmenistan Gulbadam Babamuradova also believes that one day she will be among Olympic competitors, because, in reality, she is at the very beginning of her sport life: recently she was 21.
Returning to the judo championship for the Cup of Europe held in Istanbul, it is worth mentioning that the victory of Gulbadam Babamuradova considerably increased her international rating, which incidentally, is not the least of the factors in the fight for Olympic voucher. Scores to the international rating are also provided for sportsmen, who are in the top seven. So, two more Turkmen judoists – Margarita Filippova, who won the 7th place in weight category up to 48 kg, and participant of three Olympic Games (Sydney-2000, Athens-2004 and Beijing – 208) Nasiba Surkiyeva, who became the fifth in category up to 70 kg improved their rating.
