Development of education sphere – important vector of the social policy of the nation leader

On the first day of autumn – September 1, the Day of knowledge and student youth is traditionally observed in Turkmenistan. Beginning of new school year is associated with the fifth anniversary since beginning of innovative educational reform announced by the head of state.

At the meeting held on August 16 and devoted to the issues of development of the spheres of science, education, public health, sports, tourism and culture, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov initiated prolongation of the term of education in the secondary comprehensive schools of the country up to 11-12 years, having given in this connection relevant instructions, including connected with the study of the best world experience in this trend.

Number of modern educational townships for secondary professional schools and higher educational establishments, which gave their house-warming party in the last years, has increased considerably. Among them, it is worth mentioning the State Medical University of Turkmenistan, Turkmen State Institute of Transport and Communication, Turkmen State Institute of Economy and Management, Turkmen State Institute of Culture, National Institute of Sports and Tourism of Turkmenistan, Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Military Institute of the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan and others. The oldest higher educational institution of the country – Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly, which was replenished with new modern buildings for a series of faculties, appeared today in absolutely new quality. Within the last five years, according to Decrees of the President, the Turkmen Agricultural Institute in Dashoguz, Naval Institute at the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan, Turkmen State Institute of Finances were created as well. It was also founded a whole net of secondary professional and special school in various regions of the country.

In several days – September 1, another two new higher educational establishments – Turkmen State Institute of oil and gas and Turkmen State Architectural Institute will first open wide their doors for students. Five secondary professional educational establishments will start to function. These are agro-industrial secondary professional school of the Turkmen Agricultural University, mechanical-technological secondary professional school of the Ministry of Textile Industry of Turkmenistan, secondary professional school of railroad transport of the Ministry of Railroad Transport of Turkmenistan, secondary professional school of tourism of the State Committee for tourism located in the capital as well as technical secondary professional school of “Turkmenhimiya” State Concern in Turkmenabat.

In the current year, 20 new specialties were introduced in the higher educational establishments of the country and over 5700 students entered in the higher educational institutions. It is higher by 700 persons as compared with the last year. Over 5700 pupils entered in secondary professional educational establishments of the country.

On the eve and in the first weeks of new school year, young owners of nearly 30 children’s pre-school establishments and secondary comprehensive schools situated in Ashgabat and various regions of the country also have held or prepared for solemn ceremonies in honor of “house-warming parties”. All new buildings for educational purposes are modern super-modern training and educational centers fitted with the latest computer equipment with Internet access, innovation technique, including multimedia that gained today wide application in all stages of teaching of young generation of Turkmen residents.

Concerning middle level of teaching, other scale reformation also took place on this stage within the last years. Taking into account modern requirements, it was envisaged educational plans and programs. Educational schedule was replenished with new subjects urged to serve for harmonious development of growing generation. A large scope work was carried out on improvement of teaching-methodological support of educational institutions, including publication of contemporary textbooks and teaching aids in preparation of which not only teachers of school but also leading specialists of the Ministry of Education, teachers and professors of the secondary and higher professional educational establishments took an active part.

In new 2012-2013 academic year, over two thousand Turkmen boys and girls will become the students of a series of higher and secondary professional educational institutions of Turkey, China, Romania, Malaysia, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and other countries. Teachers of schools, professors and teachers of national higher educational establishments as well as other specialists of educational structures on a regular basis with a view of professional development have training courses in foreign countries, enriching their professional mental outlook, raising pedagogical mastery and gaining innovation experience of tutorship.
