The forthcoming week promises to be rich in a number of sports events, including two international tournaments, open championships of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, and sports schools in various events.
The major event in the sports calendar of the week will be the traditional International football tournament for the Turkmenistan President’s Cup started on September 20. Nine teams from eight countries, including Turkmenistan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Belarus will compete for the honorary trophy this year.
The Cup winner will be defined among these teams on September 29. The group toppers will clash in the final and stand to win $20,000 while the runners-up get half that amount. The third-placed team will receive $5,000.
Starting from September 23, the hockey teams will start to prepare for the International Hockey Tournament for the Turkmenistan President’s Cup at the winter sports complex. The best three teams will win $20,000, $10,000 and $5,000 respectively.
The Junior Tournament of the 5th category of the International Tennis Federation will start at the Ashgabat Stadium on September 17.
The competitions in karate and Ashgabat Free-Style Wrestling Championship will be held at the Ashgabat Sports and Health-improving Centre on September 20-25 and September 21-23 respectively.
