In the capital’s “Ashgabat” and “Kopetdag” sport complexes, the first group matches were held within the framework of a regular, already 18th International Football Tournament for the Cup of the President of Turkmenistan. National teams of Armenia and Kyrgyzstan have met on the first sport base and national teams of Russia and Kazakhstan – on the second. All four teams are a part of “A” group, where the national team of Turkmenistan also competes for main trophy of competitions.
In total, 9 national teams, representing nearly all countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, take part in the tournament. These are first contests, where not club teams but national football teams of the CIS countries compete for victory within the framework of tournament for the Cup of the President of Turkmenistan. Such fact added new page to history of development of the national football, opening new possibilities for more active familiarization of the Turkmen residents with sport of high achievements.
Match between national teams of Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, having gladdened numerous fans with uncompromising and spectacular football, became very effective in the terms of kicked balls. Total sum of the meeting is drawn game - 3:3.
In other match, national teams of Russia and Kazakhstan have met. This game was not so effective for goals, but according to heat of passions on the field, it was no less interesting than previous. The meeting has completed with a score of 2 goals to nil in favor of the Russian national team.
National teams of Kazakhstan and Armenia have met in “A” group. Representatives of Kazakhstan were able to kick ball twice to the goals of rivals whereas the Armenian football players answered with one exact kick - 2:1.
Turkmen football players won confident victory, having kicked 5 unreciprocated balls to the goals of the national team of Kyrgyzstan.
On next day, the teams of “A” group held another two meetings. National team of Kyrgyzstan competed with the Russian team – 4:0 in favor of the Russian football players and sportsmen from Armenia played with the Turkmen football players, having lost with a score of 1 goal to four.
At present, in “A” group, 2 national teams at once became the leader of the draw, having 6 points to their credit. National team of Turkmenistan, which takes first place with the best difference of kicked and missed balls was among them as well. National team of Russia is immediately after our team, Kazakhstan is on the third place (three points), Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, which have one point, are on the fourth and fifth places correspondingly.
Now, there is no definite leader in the list of the best goal-scorers of “A” group, where six football players have two goals to their credit. Three of them are the representatives of the national team of Turkmenistan (M. Muhadov, I. Chorliyev, K. Annayev) and three – Russian sportsmen (D. Malikov, A. Terehov, N. Abolski). But everything can change on September 24. On this day, the national team of Russia will meet with the national team of Armenia and national team of Turkmenistan with the national team of Kazakhstan.
In the first round, in “B” group, the Uzbek football players won a victory over team of Belarus with a score of 3 goal to one, and Tajik football players gave a way to the national team of Ukraine with a score of 0:3.
In the course of the meeting with national team of Uzbekistan, the team of Tajikistan won the first victory in the tournament with a score 4:0.
In another match in “Kopetdag” stadium, national teams of Belarus and Ukraine have met. The last team came to the Ashgabat International Tournament at the head of Honored coach of Ukraine Alexander Petrakov, who trained in the composition of the youth team (up to 19 years old) two champions of Europe – 2009 – Denis Garmash, who appeared today in main composition of the Kiev “Dinamo” and national team of the country, and Dmitriy Kushnerev.
Game has completed with noticeable advantage of the Ukrainian football players, who gained confident victory with a score of 4 goals to nil and made substantial bid for reaching a semifinal.
After this victory, the national team of Ukraine gained 6 points and ensured leading position in “B” group. National teams of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have three points each. National team of Belarus, which lost chances for reaching a semifinal, has nil points.
