A regional seminar dedicated to the coordination of the international efforts against illicit drug traffic started in the Turkmen capital. The forum organized at the conference hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan brought together the members of the delegations representing the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Russian Federation, the Turkish Republic, the US, as well as representatives of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Turkmenistan, and the heads and key specialists of the branch ministries and departments of our country.

The agenda of the two-day seminar focuses on a number of issues related to the development of the coordinated efforts of the countries in the region in the struggle against the illicit drug traffic. In particular, the forum participants considered the issues on improving the methods of training specialists for relevant structures, developing standard training programmes at the national level, strengthening coordination and the quality of training programmes based on the most advanced information technologies.
