The victory of Turkmen tennis players at the International tournament

The traditional 11th ITF 5th category International Tennis Tournament dedicated to the 21st anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan finished. The U18 tennis players from Romania, Turkey, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan took part in the competitions organized by the State Committee for Sports and the National Tennis Centre of the country.

A.Ernepesov/G.Pochay defeated 6:3, 6:1 Uzbek tennis players V. Bekirov/T.Tolibjanov, 6:2, 6:2 T.Igamberdiev (Russia)/I.Memedkuliev (Turkmenistan) and 3:6, 6:1 D.Karimov (Uzbekistan)/E.Sertkaya (Turkey) and won the first place in the men’s events. In the final, our sportsmen won the decisive victory 6:2, 6:3 over the sportsmen from Kazakhstan S. Ayap/A.Nesterov.

It is notable that A.Ernepesov/G.Pochay won the silver medal of the Ashgabat Cup International Tournament in pairs.

G.Dokey (Kazakhstan)/M.Topsel (Turkey) who defeated 2:6, 6:4 V.Bessonova (Russia)/E.Gubanova (Kazakhstan) won the first place in pairs among women.

T. Habibulin (Kazakhstan) who defeated 6:4, 1:6, 6:1 his compatriot A. Nesterov won the first place in the singles among men, and V. Bessonova (Russia) who defeated 6:3, 6:1 E. Tomey (Turkey) in the final was the best in the singles among women.

“The traditional Ashgabat International Tennis Tournament in honour of the Day of Independence of Turkmenistan was held at the high level”, noted the main coach of the competitions, international arbiter Dmitry Savchuk (Uzbekistan). “It is notable that the popularity of the tournament increases with every passing year that is proved by participation of strong sportsmen from the countries of Europe and Asia in the competitions. All this vividly exemplifies that Turkmenistan has all opportunities for hosting professional tennis tournaments, one of which will be held in Ashgabat next year”.
