The third meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani Commission for economic cooperation took place in the Turkmen capital. A representative delegation of Azerbaijan led by First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Co-Chairman of the commission for Azerbaijan Yaqub Eyyubov arrived in the Turkmen capital to take part in the third meeting.
The meeting agenda focused on the issues of guaranteeing sustainable economic development of the intergovernmental cooperation in the sphere of transport and energy, innovative technologies, environment as well as cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
The meeting participants discussed the tasks on diversification of the mutually beneficial trading and economic, scientific and technological cooperation as well as the opportunities for widening partnership in a wide spectrum of other spheres.
It was noted that the existing trade turnover didn’t satisfy the potential of the two states and the level of their interrelations. Among the offers proposed by the Azerbaijani representatives are the supplies of equipment for the oil and gas, petrochemical industry industries, various construction materials, agricultural equipment, food and light industry goods as well as printed products. Discussing the prospects for cooperation, the Azerbaijani partners presented their potential in the sphere of investments, transport services as well as the sphere of recreation and tourism.
The Turkmen side, in its turn, presented a list of products and services that can significantly increase the trade turnover, promote strengthening and widening the business relations between the two states. In this context, cooperation in the sphere of private sector of the national economy was recognized as the most prospective area.
The issue on organization of the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani Commission for economic cooperation was discussed during the meeting and the bilateral Protocol of the third meeting was signed.
