International scientific-practical conference on rise of food security in the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in the Turkmen capital. It was conducted on the initiative of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Forum organized by the Ministry of Trade and Foreign economic ties of Turkmenistan hosted in the Turkmen capital over 300 participants. Among them are the leading scientists-agrarians, experts, specialists of core departments from CIS countries.
The program of the conference included the issues connected with strategic trends of maintenance of food security of CIS countries and prospects of mutually beneficial partnership in this sphere. Particular attention was paid to such topics as introduction of innovations and new technologies into production and processing of products, modern methods of quality control and security of foodstuffs, preservation of bio-resources and selection work, training of personnel and professional development of specialists, international cooperation in the field of production and sale of foodstuffs, and others.
At the conference, it was also considered major issues of development of global food market, growth of productivity of agro-industrial sector in the scale of the Commonwealth of Independent States and separate countries. As the Deputy Chairman of Executive Committee – CIS Executive Secretary Anatoliy Dron noted in his statement, the initiative of Turkmenistan on holding of such significant forum was met with wide support in the countries of the Commonwealth. This forum is one of major events held in this year within the framework of CIS.
