New prospects of business partnership running into billions

The IV International Investment Forum continues its work in the Turkmen capital.

The sectional sessions on the key vectors of the investment policy implemented in Turkmenistan took place during the second day of the forum. The discussions turned into an interesting exchange of views on the prospects and opportunities for the mutually beneficial cooperation.

In particular, the first session was dedicated to the issues related to investments into the oil and gas sector and chemical industry of Turkmenistan. The specialists of the Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry and Mineral Resources of Turkmenistan, the State Agency for Management and Use of Hydrocarbon Resources under the President of Turkmenistan, the Turkmengas State Concern, the Turkmenneft State Concern, the Turkmenhimiya State Concern and other enterprises represented Turkmenistan at the session. Among foreign participants were the heads and key specialists of the leading oil and gas companies in Russia, China, Turkey, the UAE, European and other countries.

The Head of the Dragon Oil Anglo-Arab Company Dr. Abdul Jaleel Al Khalifa told about the successful experience of the 12-year-old cooperation on developing the Caspian deposits. According to the guest within the period the company has invested about twelve billion US dollars into the project and increased the average volume of oil production at the Cheleken contractual territory from seven to 70,000 barrels per day. Till 2015 the company is planning to invest more than a billion US dollars to increase the hydrocarbon resources production volume up to 100,000 barrels per day.

Speaking at the forum, the representatives of the Yangzhou Haichuan Shipyard Company (the People's Republic of China) and Istanbul Gas Distribution Company, IGDA (Turkey) shared their experience in implementation of large-scale investment projects in the fuel and energy complex and put forward new initiatives on establishing the mutually beneficial cooperation with Turkmenistan.

“Investing in Development of Turkmenistan’s Infrastructure: with Focus on IT and Communication Sector, Energy, Banking and Financial Services” was the topic for discussions at the next plenary session. Within the framework of the session the forum participants got acquainted with the key aspects of the economic policy of the Turkmen state.

The representatives of leading international financial organisations presented their reports on the urgent trends of the world economy, investment policy and advanced experience in developing the banking and financial systems.

The investment possibilities were also discussed during a plenary session on developing the construction industry, transport and healthcare sectors. The heads of sectoral ministries and departments of Turkmenistan reported on the progress in implementing the large-scale investment projects, including the project on increasing capacities of the national construction industry, widening the range of construction and non-metallic materials manufactured from local primary products.

The specialists of the world leading companies specialized in construction industry, transport and healthcare sectors, including Vozrozhdenie, Red Bull GmbH, Vogt Medical, and Toshiba arranged presentations on the work of their companies and existing investment projects. The forum participants expressed keen interest in and aspiration to work at the prospective Turkmen market, where optimal conditions for development of the economic partnership in various spheres are created.

Another plenary session was dedicated to the global trends of the world economy, various aspects of the investment policy, exchange transactions and insurance. In particular, the heads of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, the State Insurance Company of Turkmenistan as well as foreign guests, including key experts in this sphere – representatives of the Malakut Insurance Brokers, Marsh Insurance Brokers and Burc Group made their presentations during the session.

Numerous business meetings between foreign guests and heads of sectoral ministries and departments took place within the framework of the forum.
