Training and exhibition ground at the State Energy Institute was opened in Mary. Major trends of work of the center – ecology and rational use of natural resources, power engineering, fuel and their economy. They are outlined in the List of research works, which should be realized in 2011-2015 on priority trends of development of science and technology in Turkmenistan.
Training and production center was created owing to material and financial support of the Ministry of Energy and Industry of Turkmenistan. Training and production center includes gas-turbine power station with capacity of 12 megawatts, wind-mill electric generating plant as well as power plant with 2 kilowatts, using the solar energy. Their assembly and adjustment were carried out by specialists of Mary State Power Station, “Maryenergo” Production Association and local enterprises of power supply with active participation of students and teachers.
Presently, the practical trainings, laboratory works for students are held here. For example, there are two gas-turbine power stations – in mounted and disassembled conditions for wider use of visual methods and practical mastering of new lessons in the field of power supply. At that, the students have an opportunity not only to master the principle of operation of such station, but also visually learn its structure, details and assembly units.
Solar station of the Canadian firm “Canadian solar” was assembled from sixteen solar panels. It is known that our region is rich in sunny days – over 300 such days in a year. So, the use of solar energy is of insistent necessity. However, the station generates energy not from solar heat but from its radial energy - light. In our condition, when outside air temperature is high, the panels warm up strongly. It, in turn, dramatically decreases their coefficient of helpful effect as far as they optimally operate in moderate temperatures only. Therefore, the task lies in the fact how to cool them. Having solved it, we will get additional energy for practical purposes as well. Today, the work is carried out in this direction.
On the basis of Training and production center, it is carried out the scientific researches in the field of efficient power supply with use of non-traditional and renewable energy. Elaboration of energy-efficient technologies with use of the energy of sun, wind, water and biofuel as well as local types of fuel in the complex with equipment of traditional energetics (diesel power stations, gas-turbine and other installations) is in the near and perspective plans of the center. In the near future, the center will occupy wide area of nearly one and a half hectare. The installations of energy infrastructure, including various types of towers of transmission facilities, will appear there.
The center is also urged to provide a participation in joint and international, innovation projects on renewable energy, study, generalization and introduction of the leading pedagogical experience and latest innovative technologies in the field of energy. All these are the foundation for professional development and retraining of power engineering specialists, creation of training and exhibition ground of the latest designs and rendering of consultative services in the field of renewable energy, realization of close interaction of science and production as well as formation of personality of the scientist of 21st century.
