Turkmen karatekas will take part in the World Championship in Japan

The winners of the Turkmenistan Kyokushinkai Karate Championship among men, women and juniors were announced. The competitions organized by the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Sports and the National Kyokushinkai Karate were held at the Ashgabat Sports and Health Improving Centre.

More than 100 masters of martial arts from Ahal, Dashoguz, Lebap and Mary Velayats as well as two Ashgabat teams competed for 27 sets of medals in single events (kumite) and complex katas.

In spite of the fact that Kyokushinkai is a hardest style of stand-up, full contact karate, the protective gear is not used. Therefore, only courageous and steadfast people practice kyokushinkai karate, and according to the number of championship participants there are a lot of such sportsmen among the Turkmen youth.


Moreover, the national championship of Turkmenistan demonstrated that kyokushinkai karate is also very popular among women.

It should be noted that kyokushinkai karate has become known in our country since Turkmenistan gained independence. In recent years this kind of martial arts has become very popular. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov pays particular attention to developing sports in our country and regularly practicing various sports has achieved high results in martial arts that is proved by awarding the 10th Dan Traditional Fudokan-Shotokan Karate-Do Diploma (the level of perfection in karate and judo) to the Turkmen leader.

Summing up the National Championship of Turkmenistan it should be noted that three sportsmen representing the Dashoguz School of Martial Arts hained victory in kata and kumite. Eziz Saparov, Yusup Mereddurdiev and Shahnaza Rozmetbayeva (Dashoguz) coached by Kurbanmurad Saparmuradov and Farida Gutlymuradova won two gold medals each.

At present, the national team of Turkmenistan is preparing for the Kyokushinkai Karate World Championship to be held in Toyama, Japan on November 10-11. According to the Chairman of the Kyokushinkai Karate National Centre, senior coach of the Turkmen national team Atamurad Hudayberdiev, six sportsmen – Bekmurad Bayramov, Ahmed Durdiyev, Nuregdin Yuldashev, Ruslan Emretov, Farida Gutlymuradov, who have rich experience in participation in international tournaments, as well as master of sports candidate Nabat Batyrov, who will take part in the international competitions for the first time, will represent Turkmenistan in Japan.
