Turkmen sportsmen won two medals in the World Weightlifting Championship among students in Eilat (Israel). These contests, being held once in two years under the aegis of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), host the best young wrestlers of the planet.
In the current championship, which is held for the third time, 26 men’s and 19 women’s teams compete for medals. It is quite pleasant that athletes from Turkmenistan were able to distinguish in such representative company.
In the Turkmen team represented by 8 sportsmen in the World University Championship, Dovran Gorganov (weight class up to 62 kg) won a silver medal in jerk, and Rejepbay Rejepov (up to 77 kg) – bronze medal in snatch.
In the World University Championship, the wrestlers should compete for medals in super heavy weight class (over 105 kg), where according to the results in the group of strongest athletes, another promising Turkmen sportsman Hojamuhammet Toychiyev will pretend to medals.
