In Ashgabat was opened the first session of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Qatari commission on trade and economic cooperation which brought together leaders and representatives of several government agencies which includes the ministries and departments of the two countries.

The Qatari side commission is headed by the Chairman of service for administrative control and transparency of the State of Qatar, Mr. Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiya.

As the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) informs the agenda of the first day meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission included a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, the key areas which were identified trade and economy, energy, transportation, agriculture, textile and other industries.

A focus of the discussion was the humanitarian cooperation especially in the field of education, technology, science and culture. In addition the participants unanimously called for effective linkages in the field of sport and tourism.

They also discussed issues of further development of the legal framework of bilateral interstate relations.

Tomorrow the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Qatari committee will continue its work. Afterwards the meeting will be signed a protocol.
