International Scientific Conference “Diplomacy of the Great Silk Road: from history to future” will take place in Ashgabat. Forum planned to be held on March 14-16 is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan jointly with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) at the Prime minister of Republic of Turkey.
The President of Turkmenistan signed a relevant Order at the meeting of the government held on last Friday. As it is mentioned in preamble, the purpose of holding of this conference is further development of international cooperation in the sphere of science and education, popularization of phenomenon of the Great Silk Road as the factor of closer relations of people and cultures, principles of respect of values of the nations of the world.
20 years ago – on March 16, 1993, the Intergovernmental Agreement “On technical cooperation in the sphere of economy, culture and education” was signed between Turkmenistan and Turkey. With a view of its realization, in July of the same year, it was signed a Memorandum of Understanding and soon, TIKA opened its office in Turkmenistan. Incidentally, Turkmenistan became the first country, where the representative office of TIKA was opened. And, it is no mere chance, because two our nations are united with common historical roots, spiritual relationship. More significant project in multi-aspect partnership of Turkmenistan and TIKA became the restoration of Sultan Sanjar Mausoleum (2002-2004) realized under personal patronage of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Forum “Diplomacy of the Great Silk Road: from history to future” will be also devoted to the 5th anniversary since creation of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
