First of all, it should be noted that the last week was held in our country under the sign of hockey: the first junior (U17) ice hockey tournament for the Turkmenistan President’s Cup took place in Ashgabat. Our compatriots - HC Oguzkhan of the Turkmengaz State Concern won the silver medal of the tournament. Moreover, our sportsmen achieved good results in other international events.

On February 20-26, Daugavpils, Latvia will host the World Taekwondo Tournament of the World Taekwondo Federation. 15 teams from eight countries, including Turkmenistan will take part in the tournament. Our country will be represented by eight sportsmen. The competitions will be the first stage of the 2013 Baltic Olympic Taekwondo Cup. Another international contest in martial arts will be held in Moscow on February 20-24. Six Turkmen sportsmen will compete in the Russian Federation Open Jujitsu Championship.
