The delegation of Turkmenistan takes part in the Global Alliance of Civilizations Forum.

In accordance with the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan, Minister of Culture G. Mammedova left for Vienna, the Republic of Austria to take part in the forum held under the aegis of the United Nations Organisation on February 25 – March 1, 2013.

The forum in Vienna will focus on such aspects as intercultural and interconfessional cooperation, partnership in the sphere of mass media, regional integration based on general historical and cultural prerequisites.

The first forum of the Global Alliance of Civilizations, an international structure established within the framework of the UN in 2005 was held in Madrid in January, 2008.

The Global Alliance of Civilizations Forum is aimed at making significant contribution to development of a dialogue between civilizations, religions and cultures as well as to promote increasing the role of the UN as a platform for inter-civilized cooperation.

Based on its peacemaking, ‘open-door’ foreign policy Turkmenistan calls for fostering the inter-civilized harmony through equal cooperation based on the principles of mutual respect, confidence and friendship between peoples as well as sustainable development and general progress.
