The World Equestrian Sports Fair Equitana 2013 has opened in Essen (Germany). A delegation of our country consisting of high-ranking officials of the State Committee for Sports, the Turkmen Atlary State Association, equestrian sports complexes, veterinarians, horse breeders, horse trainers and other experts, is taking part in this prestigious event that brings together horse industry professionals from all over the world.

The main aim of Turkmenistan's participation in the equestrian sports show is to exchange experiences, learn about innovations and achievements in the sector, present the national horse industry and the prospects for promoting equestrian sport and horse tourism in our country to the international community and establish new business contacts in these areas.

Equitana 2013 is the third largest sport horse show in Europe ( the second one in Germany) that Turkmenistan has participated in since the beginning of the current year. Such vigorous penetration in global exhibition activity testifies to the intense integration of Turkmenistan's horse sector into the world horse industry as well as active promotion of tourist facilities of our country that is the homeland to unique horses in the travel market.

The equestrian sports fair Equitana is considered the most prestigious sport horse show in the world. Its programme covers various themes, including horse breeding and training, organisation of hippodrome contests and other competitions. In this regard, our country has something to be proud of and attract equestrian professionals by and make connoisseurs of beautiful horses and horse racing fans enraptured. Judging by the successful performance of Turkmenistan at the international horse and travel shows in February-March this year, it can be said that Turkmenistan has burst into Europe in the saddle and made it look in a new way at our generous and hospitable land that gave 'heavenly' argamak to the world.

Large-scale international events with such a diverse agenda is an effective tool to popularize the Ahalteke breed and achievements and horsemanship of Turkmen horse trainers. Turkmen specialists will conduct a series of meetings and consultations with foreign horse industry experts on a wide spectrum of issues relating to cooperation in modernization of material and technical resources of Ahalteke horse breeding, horse contests and organisation of equestrian tours.
