The ten-day workshop "The Caspian Sea - Sustainable Development and Management" organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Enterprise for the Caspian Sea under the President of Turkmenistan and the International Ocean Institute (IOI) in the Avaza national tourism zone closed.

The workshop brought together experts of the specialized agencies from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan whose work was related to the use of natural resources and environmental protection, oceanology, environmental monitoring, hydrometeorology and sea ports. Forum participants also included international experts and IOI consultants in the abovementioned spheres from Switzerland, Canada and other countries and media representatives.

The workshop programme focused on the approaches to developing a new global economic model that would balance economic development of countries with the social and environmental aspects of the people's welfare and prosperity.
