In this year, “Turkmengeologiya” Service observes the 75th anniversary since its foundation. It was founded in 1938 after reorganization of Central Asian geological trust, when it was created the Turkmen territorial geological management.
The oldest subdivisions of the corporation also celebrate own jubilees. In spring of this year, it is observed the 55th anniversary since creation of the Turkmen prospecting expedition and 65th anniversary of Koytendag prospecting expedition, which is engaged in exploration and exploring of deposits of hard natural resources on the territory of our country.
The structure of “Turkmengeologiya” State Concern also includes four “Nebitgazgozleg” Managements, being located in Akhal, Balkan, Mary and Lebap provinces, which specialists concentrate on deep overland prospect drilling and engage in prospecting of oil and natural gas deposits. The activity of “Turkmengozleggeofizika” Management and its three dependent geophysical expeditions is focused on exploration by seismic methods of new hydrocarbon deposits – oil and natural gas. These subdivisions are located in Akhal, Balkan, Mary and Lebap provinces. The activity of geophysicists allows looking into subsoil as well as estimating the depth of bedding and form of oil and gas accumulation by means of modern technique. On the basis of obtained geologic-geophysical data, the specialists carefully analyze the forecast of deposits of mineral resources and then determine “the point” of drilling, which will be the start of new well and possibly, new deposit.
The subdivisions of “Turkmengeologiya” State Concern also have four hydro-geologic expeditions, leading investigations in Balkan, Akhal, Mary and Dashoguz provinces. The work of the specialists of these expeditions is aimed at exploration and prospecting of underground fresh, industrial and mineral waters, constant recovery of their reserves for improvement of water supply of towns, remote settlements, watering of pastures, irrigation of agricultural fields and others.
Explorers are people, who search for natural resources, as well as specialists, who process in laboratory conditions the primary material obtained in field conditions – samples of rock, being mined from rock excavations: wells, ditches, prospect holes and trenches. Material mined from wells with depth of hundreds meters is called core. Like other kinds of samples of minerals, such samples are analyzed at laboratories for presence in rocks of one or other types of minerals, chemical elements and other usable components. The largest Central Production Laboratory of “Turkmengeologiya” State Concern and laboratory of the sectoral Geological prospecting Research Institute fitted with unique, up-to-date equipment also work in cooperation with prospectors.
Geologists of the country make ponderable contribution to the development of mining sector of Turkmenistan and prepare success in the field of development and exploitation of deposits, providing the industrial productions with raw material.
