The Government of Turkmenistan and the United Nations System in Turkmenistan reviewed progress on achieving common objectives in 2012 and set priorities for 2013 at the annual UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) review meeting.

The heads and representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, a number of ministries, core departments of the country, public organisations as well as the heads and representatives of the leading UN agencies accredited in Turkmenistan, including the UN Development Programme (UNDP), UN International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF), UN Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), World Health Organisation (WHO), International Organisation for Migration (IOM), UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) attended the meeting at the conference hall in the President Hotel in Ashgabat. UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative for Turkmenistan Ms. Jacinta Barrins took part in the meeting.

The high level government officials of Turkmenistan outlined the key achievements in major areas specified in 2010-2015 UNDAF, namely: strengthening the national legislation and mechanisms of its implementation in compliance with the key principles of international documents in the sphere of human rights.

The large-scale work on implementation of the UNDAF Programme was carried out in Turkmenistan last year with the aim to provide assistance in a wide spectrum of life of the Turkmen society, including economic, social, cultural, humanitarian and environmental areas.
