Turkmenistan-European Union: towards enhancing partnership

A meeting between a delegation led by former President of the Supreme Administrative Court of the Republic of Finland, Mr. Pekka Hallberg and representatives of the Mejlis, the Supreme Court, the Ministry of Justice and the Turkmen National Institute for Democracy and Human Rights under the President of Turkmenistan focused on European legal practices. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Finland Republic in Turkmenistan Ms. Tuula Yrjola attended the meeting.

The meeting was held in the format of roundtable discussion “The Efficiency of the Judiciary System and Access to Justice - the Basic Elements of the Rule of Law”. Foreign experts made presentations on the principles of the judiciary system and access to justice that stood as the basic elements of the implementation of judicial authority and the protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens.

During the visit to Ashgabat the delegation led by former President of the Supreme Administrative Court of the Republic of Finland, Mr. Pekka Hallberg held meetings at the Turkmen National Institute for Democracy and Human Rights under the President of Turkmenistan, the Supreme Court and the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.

The ways to enhance bilateral cooperation were put on the agenda of a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with Regional Practice Leader for Environment, Climate and Energy in Europe and the CIS, UNDP Bratislava Regional Centre (Slovakia), Mr. Martin Krause.

During the visit to Ashgabat Mr. Martin Krause held meetings at the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Nature Protection and the Ministry of Economy and Development.
