Turkmen judokas compete for quota places for the 2012 Olympic Games

The Turkmenistan Judo Championship gathered together over 500 athletes from all regions of the country and Ashgabat at the Olimp Sports School. During three days teenagers (under 16), juniors (under 19) and adults competed for the title.

The students of the National Institute for Tourism and Sports M. Artykov from Mary and K. Populov from Ashgabat (under 66-kg), a teacher of the Institute A. Nurmuhamedov (under 73-kg), S. Ayrapetian (under 81-kg), K. Nuryev (under 90 kg) from Ashgabat, Z. Madaminov (under 100 kg) from Dashoguz and International Master of Sports from Ashgabat S. Hudayberdyev (under 100 kg) achieved the best results in the oldest age category.

The best judokas were included in the national men’s team who will represent our country at the Grand Slam and Grand Prix which will be held as the qualification tournaments to the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in Japan and China this December.

The Turkmen women’s team is preparing for the qualification tournaments which will be held in Japan and China.
