The football tournament for the Friendship Cup has been held in the country for the 13th time. Eight teams from all regions of the country and the Turkmen capital compete for the honorary trophy at the Kopetdag Stadium.
The tournament has proved itself as a launch pad for the cohort of talented footballers who play for the national team of Turkmenistan. This year young under 17-year-old sportsmen take part in the tournament.
In the second round matches, FC Olymp defeated 4-1 FC Lebap. The match between the leaders of Group A – FC Ashgabat and FC Ahal drew the game 0-0. Thus, FC Ashgabat and FC Ahal lead in the group with four points each, FC Olymp gained three points, and FC Lebap has not got any point yet.
In Group B matches, FC Balkan defeated 1-0 the team of the Specialized Children’s Olympic School. FC Mary and FC Dashoguz drew the game 1-1. FC Balkan with 4 points ranks the first in Group B, team of the Specialized Children’s Olympic School gained 3 points, FC Mary – 2 points and FC Dashoguz – 1 point.
Regular matches of the 3th round will be held on May 8.
