From new school year, such subjects as “Cultural heritage of Turkmenistan”, “World culture”, “Basis of economy”, “Ecology” and others will appear in the curriculum of the school. The researchers of the National Institute of Education, leadership and teachers of the higher schools of the country took an active part in elaboration of curriculums.
For example, in senior 11-12th forms, it will be introduced new subject “Basis of economy”. Among major purposes of teaching this subject is the formation of common economic culture, making notions about essence of economic occurrences and processes, abilities to analyze the situation and make well-reasoned judgments on economic matters, practical skills of economic activity.
The content of program of the course “Ecology” is aimed at formation of knowledge about nature as integral system, development of personally, significant attitude to the knowledge of environment, human being, ecological problems and activity on their solution. Attainment of these goals is also envisaged in the process of direct involvement of the pupils into nature conservation activity. The program of this discipline is oriented to the pupils of senior 11-12th forms of secondary school.
Introduction of the subject “World culture” is first aimed at the formation of comprehensively developed individual, respecting national culture and realizing its role in the development and enrichment of the world culture. Therefore, the subject “World culture” is introduced with a view of expansion of the mental outlook of the schoolchildren in the field of culture and their familiarization with attainments of humanity.
The subject “World culture” is the integrated and versatile course, which should be taught by the teachers with wide liberal and aesthetic mental outlook, who deeply and seriously engage in their self-education, actively use in their pedagogic activity the up-to-date information resources, including Internet and other innovation technologies.
Curriculum on the subject “Cultural heritage of Turkmenistan” includes the topics, opening the sources of rich culture of the Turkmen people. It also concerns the tasks of preservation and development of the Turkmen language and literature, development of traditions of artistic and fine arts, architecture (historical and cultural monuments), musical and dramatic art, cinematography, upbringing traditions (edep turkmen), revival of the national customs and traditions, development of science and education, restoration of the historic-cultural heritage, etc. Within the framework of study of the cultural heritage of Turkmenistan, in out-of-school time, it is envisaged the holding of lesions-excursions to museums, theatres, libraries, historical and cultural monuments of Turkmenistan, etc.
Besides, from new 2013-2014 school year, it is also introduced into curriculum such subjects as information and communications, innovation technologies, designing and graphics. It will be increased the quantity of hours for manual training, learning of foreign languages, informatics, social science and several other subjects from the course of the comprehensive school.
