At the Track and Field Championship of Turkmenistan held in several stadiums of the capital, new national record was established at the shot put contests.
Master of sports, representative of the School of high sportsmanship of Turkmenistan Tejen Hommadov became its author. He put the shot to 17 meters and 19 centimeters. This index exceeds the former national record established in 1967 by 17 centimeters.
In hammer throwing, Mergen Mamedov was notable for his regular victory. He was able to throw a hammer to 73.60 meters. Two weeks before Championship in Ashgabat, it was held the Track and Field Championship of Turkmenistan, where Mergen threw a hammer to 73.90 meters, having established not only new national record, but also closely approached to the Olympic qualifying standard – 74 meters. At that, the student of the National Institute of Sports and Tourism of Turkmenistan and major contender for participation in the composition of our national team in the World Student Games in Kazan (Russia) has a good chance to perform successfully in the global contests of the students and win a reputation as a potential participant of the Olympic Games-2016 in Brazil.
