Turkmen sportsmen achieved great success at the Asian Sambo and Taekwondo (ITF) Championships in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent. Our sambo wrestlers won 14 gold medals and two silver medals!
The Asian Sambo Championship became one of the last stages of the Turkmen sportsmen’s preparations for the World Students Games to be held in Kazan (the Russian Federation) next month.
Our taekwondo sportsmen won one gold medal, two silver and four bronze medals.
At present, Turkmen taekwondo sportsmen prepare for another large international tournament – the World Championship in Bulgaria to be held in the middle of July.
It should be noted that WTF taekwondo is also very popular in Turkmenistan. One of these events will take part this week: on June 16 the Ashgabat Sports and Health-improving Centre will host the Ashgabat Junior Taekwondo Championship.
The Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship will be arranged at the Nisa Sports Complex on June 14-15. The tournament will be the last stage of the preparations for the Turkmenistan President’s Cup tournament. The national championship will be held at the Galkynysh Sports Complex in Ashgabat on June 25-26.
