The scientists of the Institute of Livestock Farming and Veterinary Science of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan introduces into production several new medicinal drugs worked out on the basis of local vegetable and mineral resources.
So, with a view of prevention of diseases of agricultural animals, particularly brucellosis, the scientists of the Institute worked out antibrucellar vaccine “Rev-1” as well as colored antigen for faster and qualitative diagnosing of this disease. Against ectoparasites of animals and birds as well as for disinfestation of stock-raising premises, storehouses for keeping raw leather and wool, it was obtained the powder “Bentofos” on the basis of local mineral raw material. Its efficiency was approved by the laboratory and industrial tests.
Veterinary laboratories of the Institute annually produce over 1 million doses of antibrucellar vaccines, 200-250 thousand doses of colored antigen and 4- 4.5 tons of insecticidal and acaricide powder. These drugs are particularly used in the farms of the State Cattle-breeding Association as well as private and subsidiary stock-raising farms, which keep overwhelming majority of cattle and small cattle of total livestock in the country.
During the last years, the scientists of the Institute also worked out several drugs of long durable action against blood parasite diseases. Their treatment and preventive properties demonstrated a huge effectiveness as compared with famous foreign analogs. Comfortable in use and effective drug monezid in the form of tablets was worked out against gastrointestinal diseases of sheep.
The local specialists make sulfuric balsam against skin diseases of camels prepared on the basis of sulphur and sulfuric compounds the mineral stores of our country are rich in as well as insecticidal and acaricide ointment on the basis of oil industry wastes for agricultural and domestic animals. Tissue medicine is produced for stimulation of growth and development of young animals, improvement of live weight increase of feeder cattle as well as the medicinal drugs prepared from liquorice and althaea roots for treatment of gastrointestinal diseases of colts and calves.
