The International Exhibition and Science Conference “Science, Technology and Innovation in the Epoch of Might and Happiness” were held in Ashgabat to mark Science Day celebrated widely and solemnly in Turkmenistan on June 12.
Thousands of citizens and guests of Ashgabat visited the large-scale exposition at the Sergi kosgi Expo Centre.
They had an opportunity to see with their own eyes the achievements and scale of work undertaken by research and design institutes, research centres and higher educational institutions in our country, learn about the introduction of innovations in various spheres of the national economy, including its basic sectors – the fuel and energy sector and the chemical industries, as well as agriculture, electronics, construction, transport and communications.
The exhibition also showcased Turkmenistan’s achievements in developing science-intensive technologies as well as in the social and humanitarian spheres. The main outcomes of its work included meetings between the heads and leading specialists of Turkmen research institutions, enterprises and organisations and their potential foreign partners which provided a platform for identifying the spheres of mutual interests and areas of possible cooperation. The programme of the international exhibition included the presentations of actual research projects: 80 research institutions and leading companies from 26 countries presented their achievements, proposals and know-how in nanotechnology, computer, multimedia, information technologies and telecommunications, manufacturing and supply of modern equipment. Businesses that were successfully operating in the Turkmen market and potential partners of Turkmenistan who were showing keen interest in establishing long-term business contacts presented their expertise and proposals for cooperation at the exhibition.
The audience and representation at the international conference on science and innovation has expanded greatly this year. The forum brought together over 100 scientists and experts from 38 countries, including the heads of the Academies of Sciences, research organisations and higher educational institutions, prominent scientists in different fields of modern science. The science conference was attended by 19 academicians and corresponding members of the Academy of Sciences, 58 doctors, 43 professors, 37 prominent scientists who lead the research organisations, higher educational institutions, companies and firms. 250 scientists, graduate students and applicants from 59 institutions of our country participated in the science forum.
The closing ceremony took place in the conference hall of the Exhibition Centre of Turkmenistan. The work of the conference sections was summed up and diplomas and certificates were presented to exhibition participants.
