The XXVII World Summer Universiade opened in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Russian Federation. The sports delegation of Turkmenistan is taking part in ten sports events – boxing, weightlifting, chess, tennis, athletics, judo, sambo, belt wrestling, freestyle wrestling and Greco-Roman wrestling.
The Turkmen athletes won one gold, two silver and three bronze medals on the first day of the XXVII World Summer Universiade in the capital of Tatarstan. Athletes from 20 countries are competing for the medals in seven weight categories of the belt wrestling tournament of the 2013 Student in Kazan. The first preliminary bouts showed that the Turkmen sportsmen were determined to win. As a result, three of seven our wrestlers reached the finals and four others won competed for the bronze medal.
Yagshimurad Annamuradov in the Turkmenistan team gained the most outstanding achievement. The 22-year-old International Master of Sports, a student of the National Institute of Sports and Tourism scored four victories in the under 62 kg category, in which 18 wrestlers performed, and took the first place after having defected 6:0 Dmytro Kosenok from Ukraine.
Klych Jumaev (under 82 kg) and Seidi Batyrov (under 90 kg) won the silver medals. Two of our boxers: Zarip Jumayev (under 52 kg) and Faruh Emudov (under 60 kg) gained victories in the 2013 Student Games in Kazan.
