As it was informed, at ХХVII World Summer Student Games, going on in Kazan, the Turkmen athletes in the first three days of competitions won 11 medals of various values. Today in Kazan was quite eventful day – competitions were held on 18 kinds of sports. But, whole attention of the delegation was absorbed to the Universal Sport Complex “Ak Bars”, which became the place for contests of weightlifters during the Student Games – 2013.
In total, 15 sets of medals are played at the World Student Games in weightlifting. 106 women and 147 men from 50 countries contend for these awards. Team of Turkmenistan has old and quite well traditions in this kind of sports. Regular participation of our weightlifters in the Olympic Games is a vivid evidence of this fact. Taking into account that the Games of next Olympics are not far off, which will be held in 2016 in Brazil, the coaches of our national team on weightlifting brought to Kazan a maximum quantity of athletes - seven. Two of them - the students of the National Institute of Sports and Tourism Shohrat Hojamuradov and Rejepbay Rejepov tried today to rival in weight class up to 77 kilograms, which was one of most numerous according to the composition of participants. 29 sportsmen took part in the contests.
In sharp competition, where the strongest weightlifters of the planet took part in, Sh. Hojamuradov with sum of clean and jerk combination– 300 kg (snatch – 140 kg, jerk – 160 kg) won the 14th place. R. Rejepov with the result 330 kg (snatch – 150 kg, jerk – 180 kg) was in the top nine, having given a way to Muhamed Sultan (Egypt) to win the 8th place. Though, it is worthy result for our weightlifters – debutants of the World Student Games, which quantity of participants broke all previous records.
Meanwhile, the masters of belt wrestling remain to be most popular among our sportsmen in the Games in Kazan. As it was informed, they won for our Motherland in the contests among men and women 2 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze medals. The next day after competitions, having sent greeting cards, mayor of the Village of World Student Games F. Abdulganiyev congratulated the champions-students of the National Institute of Sports and Tourism Yagshymurad Annamuradov and Gulbadam Babamuratova on well-earned victory in Kazan. It particularly reads as follows: “We sincerely wish You happiness and new victories! May professional accomplishments and personal attainments adorn Your course of life!
