The solemn ceremony of opening of the 19th Turkmenistan President's Cup International Football Tournament took place at the Ashgabat stadium. This year, eight junior teams (U17) representing Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Belarus, Russia, Kuwait and Turkmenistan compete for the honorary trophy. Turkmenistan sportsmen, who defeated their vials (4-0) from Ukraine in the final, won the prestigious award last year.

The state flags of all teams participating in the tournament appeared on the stadium arena, where on the golden pedestal the Turkmenistan President's Cup was placed. The teams, participants of the tournament lined up in from of the seats. the National Hymn of Turkmenistan sounded on the sports arena of the stadium.


The demonstrative performances of sportsmen and dancing groups created a festive atmosphere.

As was reported, Russia and Uzbekistan that defeated their rivals from Tajikistan (7-0) and Belarus (2-1) respectively, lead in Group A.

In Group B matches, Kyrgyzstan drew the game versus Kuwait 1-1. The match was played at the Kopetdag Stadium.


Turkmenistan played versus Iran at the Ashgabat Stadium. Our sportsmen coached by A. Agamuradov defeated Iranian footballers 6-2 and lead in Group B with three points. Kuwait and Kyrgyzstan have one point each, Iran has not got any point yet.

The second round matches in Group A will be played on September 12.
