Solemn opening of the 3rd International Tournament “Ashgabat Cup” was held on the courts of multifunctional “Ashgabat” stadium.
Prior to the opening of tournament, the representatives of the International Tennis Federation and National Tennis Center of the country cordially congratulated the Turkmen tennis players, who return today with victory from zonal tournament of the Davis Cup, which took place in Dubai (United Arab Emirates). As is known, performing in IV group of zone of Asia and Oceania, the team of Turkmenistan won a victory over all opponents and for the first time in the history, gained a right to play in future year in the Davis Cup in III zonal group.
Today, the fight in the main net of the Junior Tournament of the 5th category of ITF was started on the courts of “Ashgabat” stadium.
Winners of “Ashgabat Cup” will be determined on September 21.
