Turkmen tennis players successfully participated in the Ashgabat Cup 3d International Junior Tennis Tournament. Over 100 tennis players (U18) from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Indonesia and Turkmenistan competed for the main trophy. Our sportsmen won the first places in all four events.
The first racket of the country A. Ernepesov and I. Mametkuliev, who coaches at the Tennis Academy in France at present, competed in the final in singles among men. I. Mametkuliev defeated his rival in three sets - 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 and won the first place in the singles.
The duet of Turkmen tennis players A. Ernepesov and G. Pochay won the first place in the men's doubles defeating their rivals from Kazakhstan (6-0, 6-3), Ukraine (6-3, 6-3) and Uzbekistan (6-4, 3-6) as well as from Turkey (6-3, 6-1) in the final.
In the women's doubles our tennis player D. Bayramova, who coaches in the Tennis Academy in Spain and her partner B, Cengiz (Turkey) defeated their rivals from Belarus (6-3, 7-6(3)), Turkey (6-3, 6-4) and Russia (6-2, 6-2) in the final and won the first place.
D. Bayramova also won the silver medals in women's singles defeating her rivals from Uzbekistan (6-4, 7-6(5)), Russia (6-3, 6-2) and Belarus (4-6, 6-3, 6-0). In the final, A. Gasanova from Russia defeated our tennis player 3-6, 4-6 and won the first place in the women's singles.
On September 23, the Ashgabat Stadium will host the 12th International Junior Tournament of the ITF 5th category held in honor of the Independence Day of Turkmenistan.
