The meeting organized by the Mejlis of Turkmenistan jointly with the United Nations Development Programme in Turkmenistan in the Turkmen capital focused on the international experience in the sphere of economic development and improvement of work of the local authorities and self-governance.

The meeting that brought together the specialists of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy and Development, the Institute of Strategic Planing and Economic Development and gengesh archins in Ahal Velayat was organized within the framework of the joint project of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the UNDP "Parliamentary development programme".

Within the framework of the roundtable meeting, it was noted that the high paces of the large-scale reformatory processes taken place in Turkmenistan requires the improvement of the Parliamentary work, study and introduction of the best experience in the world law-making practice, development of the inter-parliamentary relations with foreign partners, including within the UN and its structures.

The project implemented jointly by the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the UNDP is aimed at strengthening and increasing the role of parliamentarians and deputies, studying the international standards of the regulatory and legal acts, including the self-governance system.

Within the framework of the meeting, those present got acquainted with the main principles of the economies development, the modern trends in the theory and practice of the region development, the tasks of the local authorities and self-governance system in the sphere of strategic planning, budgeting, taxation, social services as well as the methods of assessment of the regions' development in the country.
