Turkmen wrestler – champion of the world

Turkmen sportsman Wepa Orazmyradov became champion of the world on belt wrestling among heavyweights. There were no equal to 24-year old student of the Military Institute of the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan in freestyle in the weight of 100 kg at the Championship completed on November 15 in Salavat, Republic of Bashkortostan.

Besides gold, our athletes won another 5 silver and 4 bronze medals of the tournament, which hosted nearly 300 sportsmen from 30 world countries.

Several days ago, our national team of juniors on this kind of sports took part in the World Belt Wrestling Championship in Karachai-Cherkess of the Russian Federation. Our wrestlers, who competed with persons of the same age born in 1993-1995 from 14 countries, won three gold, two silver and two bronze medals. Here, the students of the National Institute of Sports and Tourism of Turkmenistan M. Khallygurbanov, G. Shamamedov and S. Batyrov became the gold prize winners.

In all, the Turkmen athletes delivered 17 medals from the international competitions from Russia.

In all, in the current year, the sport attainments of the country were replenished by over 260 awards of the international tournaments. 96 of them are gold and 89 – silver.
