International sports media forum in Turkmenistan

The International sports media-forum organized in the framework of the preparations for the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games takes place in the Turkmen capital.

The forum is attended by the representatives of the world leading mass media from 25 countries, including Russia, USA, France, Germany, China and others. Among them are the journalists representing RIA News, Associated Press, Reuters, and over a hundred popular TV and radio channels and prints that have great experience in the sphere of the world sports journalism.

The forum participants considered the role of mass media in the process of preparation and organization of the high-level sports events.

Speaking during the ceremony of opening the forum, President of International Sports Press Association (AIPS) Gianni Merlo noted that sport was a bridge from the past to the future.

Mr. Merlo also made a presentation of the book dedicated to the work of the International Sports Press Association.

Upon completion of the forum opening ceremony in the National Institute of Sports and Tourism of Turkmenistan, the media forum continued its work in the conference hall in the Ashgabat Hotel. The forum covered such important areas as the effective work of mass media within sports games, the role of broadcasting campaigns, broadcasting of the classical and Paralympic Games, drafting of sports materials and their presentations, etc.

Advisor of the Sport Department at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Patrick Furlong, Acting Communications Director of the Tokyo 2020 Bid Committee Masa Takaya, Founder and Editor of insidethegames.biz Duncan Mackay and other sports journalists presented their ideas and developments on the work of mass media.

The forum participants will also visit the sports complexes in Ashgabat and sports facilities of the future Olympic Village under construction in the Turkmen capital.
