In Geneva, at the 103rd session of the Council of International Organization for Migration with unanimous support of 151 member states of IOM, Turkmenistan was admitted to full member of this organization.

Having joined to several key international documents in the field of human rights, Turkmenistan steadily follows the undertaken obligations, demonstrating its adherence to high ideals of humanism, principles of democratic development and modern jural society.

Our country accumulated a solid experience in the sphere of rendering assistance to the refugees and protection of their rights. It is also worth mentioning that Turkmenistan became the first state in the Central Asia, which joined to the Convention on stateless person status. Within the last years, several thousand of persons, who permanently live in our country and have no legal nationality, were admitted to the citizenship of Turkmenistan. Only in October of the current year, 609 persons have been admitted to the citizenship of Turkmenistan.
