The final matches of the first round of the 2013-2014 season of the Turkmenistan Hockey Championship took place at the ice arena in the Winter Sports Complex in Ashgabat.
Eight teams, including Galkan (the Ministry of Internal Affairs), Vatanchi (the Ministry of Defense), Alp Arslan (the Ministry of Communications), Shir (the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange), Merdana (the State Border Service), Oguzkhan (the Turkmengaz State Concern), Nesil (the Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs) and the team of the Sports School of the State Committee for Sports participate in the tournament.
HC Galkan that gained seven victories in seven matches leads in the tournament with 21 points. HC Shir gained 18 points, HC Nesil - 13 points, HC Merdana - 12 points, HC Oguzkhan - 11 points, HC Vatanchi - six points, HC Alp Arslan - three points. The team of the Sports School of the State Committee for Sports has not gained any point.
Pavel Barkovsky (HC Merdana) who kicked 50 pucks is the top goal-scorer of the first round, Meylis Kuliev (HC Nesil) is on the second place with 26 pucks and Alexander Vahovsky (HC Galkan) is the third in the list with 23 pucks.
The second round matches will start on the ice arena of the Winter Sports Complex in Ashgabat next weekends. The teams wining the first, second, third and fourth places at the Championship will compete for the first Turkmenistan Hockey Cup in spring, 2014.
