Caren Muns from Australia, international UNICEF expert and consultant on issues “Friendly-oriented schools to children” has become an honorable guest of a number of secondary comprehensive schools of the Turkmen capital city and provinces of our country. It was her first visit to Turkmenistan, which she has paid with the purpose of evaluation of the efficiency of joint activity of the Education ministry of Turkmenistan and the UN in the person of the UNICEF in the light of realization of the given educational initiative.
Caren Muns confirmed a full readiness of these educational establishments for being awarded international certificates as well. Noting that the initiative “Friendly-oriented schools to children” fully corresponds with the national legislation in the sphere of education and child training based upon the innovative education concept of the president of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. “Friendly-oriented schools to children” initiative was fully supported at all levels including at the government level as well.
Caren Muns visited eleven secondary comprehensive schools, two in each region. The half of them is nominees for inclusion in the movement “Friendly-oriented schools to children”. Discussions with headmasters and teachers, schoolchildren and their parents as well as other interested sides, representatives of social organizations, initiative groups, various ministries, and departments, heads of the authorities were held here.
- We attached attention to all people of the education process in order to get a clear picture of their real contribution to the multi-sided education process and child care ,-said the guest. – All representatives of the above-mentioned sides presented us valuable information of innovations, strong points and possibilities of improvement of education system.
One of the important aspects of the activity to which joint efforts of the UNICEF and Education Ministry of Turkmenistan were directed, has become preparation of certificates for friendly-oriented schools to children and it includes national standards and indicators ,instructions and procedures for certification of schools in compliance with criteria of the friendly-oriented schools to children –universal document for enhancement of quality of education in line with international standards in the given sphere.
Development of a set of documents on certification, which has been carried out with a shortest time, is the best world practice in the sphere of education and it has come close to completion that is it is ready to be approved at the Turkmen government level.
Creation of wonderful basis for organization of multi-level teaching and educational activity helps to reveal the most different talents, intellectual, creative, research, sporting, and others. It is not less important that a special attention is attached to creation of safe environment, cultivation of healthy lifestyle. For these purposes, special measures are carried out to learn rules of traffic, fire precautions and various outdoor fames, sports events and others.
Communicating with children, I often make sure that you have very talented children! They make a great progress in education and sports, research and creative competitions, and demonstrate their good skills in innovative computer technologies and command several foreign languages. I was fascinated with your children and they love their country, they respect interesting and original traditions, customs of their nation, they are proud of success of their schools, where we also make our contribution at large. My special attention was attached to the education of the youngest schoolchildren – six and seven –year old first formers for harmonious development of whom are crated the most favorable conditions. I was greatly surprised and glad that they already in the early age can command computers and in this regard, the state head personally extends a close support. It is on behalf of the national leader that all first formers of your country are presented with netbooks with special software ever year.
I would also like to mention that I was greatly amazed with the fact that your people are extremely hospitable. I am happy to have had an opportunity to be in this unusually friendly atmosphere here and to learn wonderful traditions, which make up the national values of the historical heritage of the nation.
I have been to many countries of the world, and I have much to compare with. Namely, what has made me amazed in your country is the development of education sphere, I was really amazed.
