The finals of the men’s and women’s tournaments of the Turkmenistan Kabaddi Cup were held at the Galkynysh sports complex in Ashgabat. The team tournaments have showed that today nobody is equal in this martial art with kabbadi wrestlers from Ashgabat. Kabaddi is included in the programme of the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, and the tournaments in Ashgabat are the stages of preparation for the 2017 Asian Games.
It should be noted that the men’s and women’s kabaddi teams represented our country at the IV Asian Games, which were held in the Korean city of Incheon this summer. The main task set to the Turkmen sportsmen, who were performing in the major international competitions for the first time, was to learn from the leading international teams. The experience gained has laid the groundwork for the training methods developed by the Turkmen coaches which will allow our athletes to demonstrate their techniques in Ashgabat in 2017.
