At finish of the passing year, the 9th World Kurash Championship took place in Turkey. This wrestling is identical to our yakalashma and has much common with the Olympic judo (only without painful and suffocating holds). Spectacular and high pace are typical to the duels. It is no mere chance that kurash quickly gains wide popularity.

So, in the current December, the wrestlers from 45 states competed in Istanbul for the title of the best in the planet. There was a rare incident at this championship of the strongest athletes: two residents of one village both in the competitions among women and men were reckoned among prize-winners. Authors of the sensation in sport complex “Siyavush pasha” became the Turkmen athletes.

In the weight class 48 kilograms, Turkmenistan was represented by Ayna Zaripova, who added “bronze” of the World Kurash Championship in Istanbul to “gold” gained in May at the Continental Sambo Championship in Tashkent.

Among men in division of 60 kilograms, Marat Orazov first performed at the international competitions. His bronze is a worthy award for high mastery and strong character in the first international competitions and of such rank. His experience accumulated on Istanbul arena is invaluable. It is worth mentioning that both prize-winners live in small village Yalkym of Farap etrap in Lebap province and work as coaches of the sport schools.
