Turkmenistan-Iran: mutually beneficial cooperation in the best neighborhood traditions

The 13th meeting of the Turkmen-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission for economic cooperation took place in Ashgabat on the eve of the Turkmen-Iranian Business Forum and bilateral political consultations. The IRI delegation led by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in the Turkmen capital to take part in the forum.

The agenda of the forum held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan included a number of aspects regarding the various directions of the bilateral cooperation built on the equal and mutually beneficial basis. The forum participants exchanged their views on the progress in implementing the agreements achieved earlier and discussed the prospects for further development of the intergovernmental dialogue.

The economic relations in the spheres of trade, energy, agriculture and water industry as well as education, healthcare, culture, tourism and sports were also discussed during the meeting. The bilateral Protocol was signed on the outcomes of the forum.

Within the framework of the political consultations taken place in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the members of the delegations of Turkmenistan and Iran discussed a number of issues related to cooperation between the two countries in various spheres. The parties exchanged their views on the different aspects of collaboration between the foreign-policy agencies of Turkmenistan and Iran.
