Some days separate the Turkmen fans of sports from the main hockey event of 2014 - the second international tournament for the Cup of the President of Turkmenistan. Competitions, where 8 teams (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and our country) will take part in, will be held from February 8 to 18 in the capital’s Winter Sports Complex.
Besides the Cup and medals, in the tournament organized by the State Committee of Turkmenistan for sports and National Hockey Centre, it will be also played the money prize - 35 thousand US dollars. For the first place the team will receive 20 thousand, for the second - 10 thousand and for the third - 5 thousand.
Several years ago, the residents of Turkmenistan could only dream about real ice arena. Now, the Turkmen youth can be engaged in winter kinds of sports and even to compete with foreign hockey clubs in tournaments of the international level. The example to that is the first tournament matches for the Cup of the President of Turkmenistan, where the team “Oguzkhan” has reached the final of competitions and became the silver prize-winner. The first championship of Turkmenistan of a season of 2013-2014, where a confident victory was gained by “Galkan”, has completed recently. In spring of this year, the first tournament matches for the Cup of the President of Turkmenistan on hockey will take place in Ashkhabad.
