The Turkmen sportsmen rose two times on the podium, having won third places of honor in their categories, at the open All-Russian Greco-roman Wrestling Tournament, which was held in Podolsk. Besides 20 teams from 14 Russian regions, the wrestlers from five states took part in the competitions. Among participants of the contests, there were honored masters of sport, Olympic champions, champions of Europe and world. Our country was represented in the competitions with 7 sportsmen of the national team of Turkmenistan on Greco-roman wrestling.
Performing in the weight class up to 98 kg, where 14 wrestlers from 4 countries contended for the title of the strongest, Arslan Saparmammedov won a victory in three fights and suffered a defeat, which didn’t prevent him to win the third prize place.
In the fight for the medal in weight class up to 75 kg, 20 participants from 5 countries competed. In this competition, the representative of Turkmenistan Shermet Permanov also won three victories and one unfortunate defeat – as a result the bronze medal – third price place.
